CCPR-Centre delivered sessions for human rights activists in Kazakhstan

The Centre for Civil and Political Rights contributed to the course on human rights for activists and human rights defenders in Kazakhstan.

On 19 June 2021, Rustam Kypshakbayev, the regional coordinator for Central Asia of the CCPR Centre, delivered presentations for the Human Rights Course - a civil society initiative implemented by Erkindik Qanaty, a leading Kazakh human rights NGO. The course was designed for young human rights defenders and civil activists, it covers a wide range of issues including human rights concepts and practices in a number of topics.

The topics delivered by CCPR-Centre in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan’s capital, covered international human rights law, standards and UN instruments - in the first session; in the second session, Rustam Kypshakbayev spoke about UN mechanisms for human rights, including the Human Rights Council, Special Procedures, treaty bodies, national reporting and individual complaints mechanisms. Additionally, CCPR-Centre contributed to the online video course on human rights that will be released in the future.
