Upcoming 2024 State reviews of the Human Rights Committee

Calendar and deadlines of the Human Rights Committee for 2024

The calendar of the 2024 Human Rights Committee sessions is already available. Information includes the upcoming dialogue with State delegations, adoption of List of Issues (LOIs) and List of Issues Prior to Reporting (LOIPR), and evaluations under the follow-up procedure to Concluding Observations. During all these procedures, civil society can participate by submitting reports.
In 2024, the 140th, 141st, and 142nd sessions will take place in Palais Wilson, Geneva. All the State dialogues will be public and will be possible to follow in-person and online.
The CCPR Centre, in agreement with the Human Rights Committee's Secretariat, organizes NGO briefings. These briefings are open on invitation only. 140th session
The 140th session of the Human Rights Committee was held from 4 to 28 March 2024. The programme of work, NGO information note, and NHRI information note, are available online.
The Committee then reviewed Chile, Guyana, Indonesia, Namibia, Serbia, Somalia, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The deadline to submit NGO/NHRI written contributions (alternative reports) for the States parties under review was 5 February 2024.
The Committee also adopted the List of Issues of Mongolia and Viet Nam and the List of Issues Prior to Reporting of Azerbaijan, Djibouti and Mali. The deadline for NGO/NHRI written contribution for adoption of list of issues and list of issues prior to reporting was 8 January 2024.
The Committee evaluated Finland, Paraguay, Tunisia, and Uzbekistan under the follow-up procedure to Concluding Observations. The deadline to submit NGO written contributions for those States reviewed under the Follow-up procedure was 18 December 2023.
141st session
As for the 141st session of the Human Rights Committee, it will be held from 1 July to 23 July 2024. The programme of work, NGO information note, and NHRI information note, are already available at the page of the session.
The Committee will then review Croatia, Honduras, India, Maldives, Malta, Pakistan, Suriname, Syrian Arab Republic. The deadline to submit NGO/NHRI written contributions (alternative reports) for the States parties under review is 3 June 2024.
The Committee will also adopt the List of Issues of Chad and the List of Issues Prior to Reporting of Austria, Costa Rica, Côte d'Ivoire, Latvia, Sierra Leone. The deadline for NGO/NHRI written contribution for adoption of list of issues and list of issues prior to reporting was 6 May 2024.
The Committee will also evaluate Kenya, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia and Lao People's Democratic Republic under the follow-up procedure to Concluding Observations. The deadline to submit NGO written contributions for those States reviewed under the Follow-up procedure was 8 April 2024.

142nd session
Lastly, the 142nd session of the Human Rights Committee will be held from 14 October to 8 November 2024. The programme of work, NGO information note, and NHRI information note, will be available soon at the page of the session.
The Committee will review Albania, Ecuador, France, Greece, Haiti, Iceland, and Türkiye. The deadline to submit NGO/NHRI written contributions (alternative reports) for the States parties under review is 16 September 2024.
The Committee will also adopt the List of Issues Prior to Reporting of Benin, Cameroon, Monaco, Poland, Slovenia, and South Africa. The deadline for NGO/NHRI written contribution for adoption of list of issues and list of issues prior to reporting is 19 August 2024.
The information regarding which countries will be evaluated under the follow-up procedure to Concluding Observations is not available yet.
