The Committee reviewed six countries on the application of the ICCPR

Five weeks of session. The UN Human Rights Committee wrapped up its 142nd session on November 7, 2024, following four weeks of regular work and an additional week devoted to the working group on communications.
Six reports under review. During this session, the Committee reviewed reports from Ecuador, France, Greece, Iceland, Türkiye, and Pakistan, adopting concluding observations and recommendations for each State party.
Planning ahead. The Committee adopted Lists of Issues for several countries. Under the Simplified Reporting Procedure (LOIPR), Benin, Cameroon, Monaco, Poland, Slovenia, and South Africa will have one year to submit their periodic reports. Latvia, under the standard procedure (LOI), is expected to be examined in 2025.
Farewell to four members of the Committee. Four members will complete their terms at the end of 2024: Ms. Kran (Canada), Mr. Gomez (Spain), Mr. Santos Pais (Portugal), and Ms. Tchamdja (Togo).
