Legal training on “Presentation of cases before the United Nations Committees”
The Centre gave a training to Peruvian lawyers in how to present cases before UN treaty bodies
On 5th May 2021, at 16.00h Lima time, the CCPR Coordinator for Latin America gave a training for Peruvian lawyers on how to present cases before the United Nations Committees.
The session started with a general explanation of the UN treaty-based bodies -including their membership and main functions - and of the Secretariat. After that, lawyers were taught the prerequisites and procedures to present individual communications on the one hand and to request for provisional measures on the other.
During and after the session, the attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and make the comments they wished to. The session presented the opportunity for the attendees to also ask specific questions about advice on potential cases they would like to pursue at the UN level.
