No measures have been taken towards implementation. The Sri Lanka Supreme Court has held that the decisions of the Human Rights Committee are not binding and that the State party's accession to the Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights is not valid. The author and her children have been granted asylum in a third country.
