Online session - Examination of state reports postponed to future sessions
The Human Rights Committee is the body of independent experts that monitors implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights by its State parties.
The 129th session of the Human Rights Committee will be held online. It will take place from 29 June to 24 July 2020. The Programme of Work is available here.
The Committee will adopt the List of Issues Prior to Reporting of Burundi, Congo, Gabon, Guyana, Indonesia, and Iran (Islamic Republic of) and the List of issues on Armenia, Cambodia, China (Hong Kong), China (Macau), Iraq, Panama, Qatar and the Russian Federation.
Due to COVID-19, the examination of the states parties' reports have been postponed to the 130th and future sessions.
The Committee will continue the second reading of the draft General Comment on the right to peaceful assembly. The discussions will be webcast.
Also in public session, the Committee will adopt the Progress report of Special Rapporteur on Follow-up to the Concluding Observations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Mongolia and Thailand (subject to change) and Progress reports of Special Rapporteur on Follow-up to Views. Finally, the Committee will adopt the Annual Report to the General Assembly.
