Adopted during the 119th session (March 2017)
The Committee requests statistics and more information on measures to guarantee the implementation of alternatives to administrative detention (B). A procedure was put in place to review administrative detention through a judge of district court (A). However, there is still a lack of information on the rationale behind the initiative to place administrative offences under the Criminal Code as minor criminal violations or crimes (C). The Committee also requires clarification on the holding of administrative detainees in temporary detention isolators (B).
The Committee also requests more information on the provisions of the draft law on the jury trial system and their compliance with the Covenant (B).
