Overview of the 111st session of the Human Rights Committee (July 2014)
At its 111st Session (7 to 25 July 2014) the Human Rights Committee reviewed the reports of six States Parties: Chile, Georgia, Ireland, Japan, Malawi and Sudan.
The Committee also adopted the Lists of Issues in relation to the reports of five States: Cambodia, Côte d'Ivoire, Cyprus, France and Russian Federation and the List of Issues Prior to Reporting for two States: Mexico and Poland.
It considered 38 Individual Communications, finding 7 inadmissible, deciding 26 on the merits, and discontinuing consideration of 5.
Four meetings were devoted to the second reading of the Draft General Comment No. 35 on article 9 (Liberty and Security of Persons).
Furthermore, the Committee appointed Mr. Victor Rodriguez Rescia as its first ever Rapporteur on Reprisals
