The UN Human Rights Committee – A Year in Review – 2017
An Analysis of the Findings of the UN Human Rights Committee in 2017
The Centre for Civil and Political Rights is delighted to introduce this analysis of the 2017 findings of the UN Human Rights Committee. For this fourth edition, the research analyses the main issues emerging from the Concluding Observations and individual communications adopted in 2017. It reflects the main concerns discussed by the Committee during the reviews of State Parties as well as the latest developments in the Committee’s jurisprudence.
The project focused on summarizing and analysing the Concluding Observations and individual communications that were considered during the 119th, 120th and 121st sessions of the Committee. 20 States parties’ reports and 87 individual communications were examined in 2017. This Yearbook combines a thematic analysis of all Concluding Observations and selected Views of the Human Rights Committee to present a comparative report of this Committee’s responses to concerns in 2017.
