CCPR-Centre has a long-standing partnership with NGOs from Haiti, mainly in relation to the review and follow-up of the recommendations adopted by the Human Rights Committee in October 2014. This time, their collaboration concerned the UPR of Haiti, which took place on 7 November 2016.

With the support of CCPR-Centre, two human rights defenders from Haiti, Fabiola Dorval, from Défenseurs Plus and Charles Ezael, from Défenseurs sans Frontières des Droits Humains, together with three other Haitian civil society representatives, participated at the UPR pre-session organised by UPR-Info on 5th October 2016 in Geneva.
The topics addressed in Fabiola's and Charles' statements concerned:
- Elections, access to justice and impunity
- Violence against women and child rights
It is important to highlight that these issues were also addressed by the Human Rights Committee's Concluding Observations and were reflected at the recommendations during the UPR on 7 November 2016.
